Ethical Investment Week 2024 is an opportunity for Australians and New Zealanders to learn more about building their sustainable legacy in... more
Our Background
In 2004, financial planners Louise Edkins and Terry Pinnell, who were among the pioneers of ethical investment advice during the 1990s, established Ethical Investment Advisers so they could offer specialist advice on ethical investing.
Originally based in Brisbane, the company has now grown and has eight offices spread across Brisbane, Hobart, Perth, Dunsbourgh, Coffs Harbour, Toukley and Erina. Our advisers are dedicated to helping clients invest their money ethically, whilst receiving a solid return.
In 2009, Karen McLeod moved her practice to Ethical Investment Advisers. During her decade spent working at traditional financial planning firms, Karen realised her personal desire to help clients invest successfully without compromising their values.
In recent years, after successfully running their own businesses for several years, Stuart Barry of TasEthical, James Baird of JustInvest, Nathaniel Chell of SkySummit, Chris Lang of Ethical Choice Investments, Sarah Wood of ActInvest and Ross Little of Ethical Investment Advisers, also moved their businesses to Ethical Investment Advisers.
Our Vision
We are passionate about offering advice on ethical investment choices to all investors. We believe that everyone should be able invest according to their values!
Our vision is to help all investors incorporate their values with their investment objectives. By integrating the social, environmental and financial aspects of an investment, we believe that a more sustainable investment return is possible.
To increase awareness of ethical investment in Australia we have an active involvement with Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA). Karen McLeod former board member of RIAA where she also sat on the Certification Committee and the Governance Committee. Louise Edkins & Terry Pinnell were charter members of RIAA and Louise also held a board position and the role of Treasurer during the early 2000s.
We hold briefings and investor information nights on a regular basis to update our clients on new ethical investments. We also compile a monthly newsletter which updates our clients about ethical investment news. Our aim is to achieve best practice in dealings with all our stakeholders and to run a sustainable financial service licence.
We are also founding members of the Ethical Advisers’ Co-operative (EAC) and our staff play an active role on the board and in working groups for the EAC. The EAC is member operated and was created to support ethical advisers across Australia and ultimately their clients. One of the goals of the EAC is to increase awareness of ethical investment in Australia.
